CREEPINGNET'S WORLD
SECURITY = INOPERABILITY
How modern tech security solutions, when improperly thought out, can cause chaos for everyone...
Everyone is all about cybersecurity these days, and I can't say I blame them at all. We live in a world where almost everything has a computer and is connected. However, all that stuff means jack if we can't actually USE the equipment we are securing to get things done, this includes administartion of those platforms.

One of my ports of call in both my personal life and I.T. career, is having a fully fleshed out solution put together when deciding on how to secure systems. There are many variables to considering including (but not limited to)....

  • How administration is going to access and administer those systems
  • Take a list of where best practice and guidelines were not followed during the system's previous lifetime (ie managing by the leaf object, creating insecure passwords for certain resources that stuck around for years, allowing users admin access for one friggin basic function)
  • Consider the workflows currently implemented (if any), and how changes will affect the outcomes of those workflows after
