CREEPINGNET'S WORLD
NINTENDO ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM
The Nintendo Entertainment System was released in 1983 as the Nintendo Family Computer or "Famicom" for short in Japan.  By 1983 N?intendo wanted to bring their system over-seas to America and at one point were even going to have Atari Corporation make it for them - but the bid fell through, Atari hit hard times as a result of the North American video game crash, and Nintendo had new ideas.  So they released it - in redesigned form - as the Nintendo Entertainment System, or NES for short, in 1985.  Today it's a venerable legend of the Console Gaming world, and one of the most coveted vintage consoles that's still just (barely) affordable to buy.

I got my first one in 1990 and had it for a long time.  I still have a bunch of the original carts I had as a kid.  Anyway, I also tend to repair and maintain Nintendo Systems and whatnot.  So I'll be posting things up on this page and how I did them.

Currently I only focus on collecting for the NES, and I'm a tad excited (and a little stressed) because finally, finally, after chasing this damn Dragon Warrior IV Cartridge around for 20+ years, maybe, just maybe, I'll finally have that cartridge, which really marks the end of my retro-game collecting en-masse thing. AS I get older, I realize that these things take up a lot more space and are a bigger pain to maintain than Emulation is, but at the same time, the original hardware is far less fiddly than Emulation. Thankfully with an NES the only things you have to worry about is having 2 Gamepads and a Zapper, unless you want 4-player or want to play Track Meet.
