The DigiTech GNX-1 Page
The $80 Pedal behind my EGA Stereo Demo in 2007 and most of my YouTube Videos that Year
I was contemplating putting this pedal lumped in with the RP-series pedals, but decided against it because this one has some extra stuff going on with it that my RP-series pedals did not, such as the whole "amp morphing" thing.

The DigiTech GNX-1 was a part of DigiTech's "Guitar GenetX" Series (Guitar Genetics - Get It?) of digital effects amp modeling processor doohickeys, and it was a bit more advanced than the RP-series units that I was used to using. It uses multiple switching schemes like more modern processors do - with a Patch/Bank based "Performance" mode that gives you three patches per bank, and access to all Factory AND User Presets, and then a "FX Mode" that allows the three footswitches below to act as stompbox switches for 3 separate effects.

The GNX-1 IS computer editable using the industry standard MIDI IN/OUT/THRU ports on the back (big Din 5 like an old AT Keyboard) and either a standard MIDI Port, or USB to MIDI Adapter. I used this to record "EGA Stereo" "M.J. (self-titled)" and "System Shock" in 2007. However, buyer beware, because I left mine plugged in while at work and it fried itself.
SOFTWARE EDITOR
The Digitech GNX1 uses "GenEdit" which is a bit of an expanded version of the RPEdit software used by the RP-series pedals. It adds provisions for programming the expression pedal and doing cool user-assinable things with it, among other stuff.
PATCH STORAGE SCHEME
Like the RP-series the patches are stored in a list format and are retrievable by hitting the patch up/down buttons. In certain modes, you can use the three bottom footswitches to turn effects off/on, change channels on the modeled amp, or use the "Learn-A-Lick" feature.
