Now here's a REALLY WEIRD one! Does that font look familiar to you for the scoreboard? Well...this APPEARS to be a NES/Famicom port of none other than Slap Shot Super Pro Hockey (right) for the Mattel Intellivision (INTV) - ported to the NES of all things! Seriously, when you though the Sup 400-in-1 Game Box could not get any weirder - then they pull this one on us, LOL, a actual almost byte for byte port of Slapshot Pro Hockey. I guess grab a can of Kokanee and you're ready to go I guess.
So the game is pretty much Ice Hockey! I'm not much of a sports guy, but look, it's the same friggin game, right on down to the colors. About the only difference is the Intellivision version has a single digit scoreboard on it, while the port has a double-digit scoreboard. I don't know how close the Honeywell CPU found in the Intellivision is to the Ricoh 2A03 found in the Nintendo Famicom/NES is, but it must have been close enough to make this port accessible to most people. I looked all over the internet to find out more on who developed this and when it came out and I could not find it listed ANYWHERE! Seriously. I ran a Google Image search and it came up with the Intellivision port - that's how I found out. I tried bootleg games wiki, ROM hack central - and nothing came up.
