Chip & Dale: Rescue Rangers 1989 Capcom, NES/Famicom |
Ah yes, Disney was really hitting their stride, catching a 3rd or 4th wind, in 1989-1992 with the "Disney Afternoon" - a block of Disney Cartoons on certain networks that included the famous Duck Tales (whoo), Darkwing Duck, Talespin, and this - Chip & Dale: Rescue Rangers. And of course, what was another popular thing at the time - that's right - the NES! So what's not better than to licence the franchises out to a decent publisher - in this case, everything Disney went to CAPCOM! Yes, the same company that brought us Mega Man, was probalby just as famous for their Disney licenses.
Chip & Dale Rescue Rangers was a NES title where you played as the two chipmunk heroes on an adventure to rescue Gadget if I'm not mistaken, the purple clad mouse inventor chick. Basically, most of the game is spent with an interesting platformer mess of gameplay mechanics such as hiding in boxes, throwing boxes as weapons, collecting flower cards, and running around "Honey I Shrunk the Kids Style" around various areas, mostly fighting off mechanical bulldogs for enemies. This game became incredibly popular it seems, either that, or they were really pushing for it to become popular. That said, after awhile, The Disney Afternoon had a competitor - the W.B. - for all the Warner Bros. Looney Tunes stuff.Catchy Tagline - My Experiences Videos Other Stuff |
