CREEPINGNET'S WORLD
Bomberman
1983, HudsonSoft, NES/Famicom
Bomberman is a maze video game developed and published by Hudson Soft. The original home computer game Bomber Man was released in July 1983 for the NEC PC-8801, NEC PC-6001 mkII, Fujitsu FM-7, Sharp MZ-700, Sharp MZ-2000, Sharp X1 and MSX in Japan, and a graphically modified version for the MSX and ZX Spectrum in Europe as Eric and the Floaters. A sequel, 3-D Bomberman, was produced. In 1985, Bomberman was released for the Nintendo Entertainment System. It spawned the Bomberman series with many installments building on its basic gameplay.

In Bomberman you play...well...Bomberman, a bomb-pitching robot that needs to escape the maze he's trapped in, and he's going to have to do it by blowing up enemies and brick walls that stand in his way.

The game was popualr enough to gain a resurgance of popularity in the 1990's IIRC. There was this sorta "retro Arcade" craze at the time coinciding with the dawn of "vintage video game collecting" that had everyone on the internet (mostly college student Gen Xers bored and strapped for cash, and me, a bored and strapped for cash Latch Key Kid who hated the 1990's, especially after 1995).
