CREEPINGNET'S WORLD
Defender II: Stargate
1985, Williams Electronics, NES/Famicom
Defender II: Stargate is the sequel to the Arcade Classic Defender (1981) which I have an entry for in the Atari 2600 section. This is a Famicom/NES port of the sequel also found originally in arcades. Originally these were released to arcades via Williams, but was ported over to the NES/Famicom afterward.

In Defender II you fly a starship protecting people of the planet below from Abduction by evil alien space craft that are flying all over the place. You can go above the top of the screen to warp via hyperspace, or you can fly the complete circle. You can also use special bombs by diving into the landscape below and firing.

Defender & Defender II: Stargate have become some of the seminal classics of Arcade-dom over the decades and have been recreated and re-released numerous times in their over 43+ years long lifetime as a franchise.
