CREEPINGNET'S WORLD
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
In 1992, Nintendo decided to release the third Zelda game, which was a "return to form" of sorts, called The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past - a departure from the departure that was The Legend of Zelda II: Link's Adventure for the NES - which was a side-scrolling RPG, while this was a return to a top-down Action/Adventure/RPG in the form of the original The Legend of Zelda for the NES.

Instead of just tossing you in the middle of a field, and relying on the manual for the backstory like the first game, now you had a nice little cut-scene at the beginning outlining the game's story.
