The Everdrive N8 was released in it's original form in 2013 by Krikzz as an attempt at "The best NES Flash Cart". It currently is the most popular choice for a flash cartridge for your old NES (though they also make Everdrives for other legacy systems as well).

Basically what the Everdrive N8 is, is a "Flash Cartridge" for the Nintendo Entertainment System. It's designed to allow you to store NES ROMs on a game cartridge format. It has a menu system and supports running FAmicom games, as well as Famicom Disk System with automatic Disk Swap, Game Genie support, Expansion AUdio (ie VRC7 for Castlevania III FC and what have you), and up to 32GB SD Cards for storage. The idea is an all-in-one solution allowing you to run actual code on an actual NES, including titles that require special hardware not released on the NES.

The Everdrive N8 (and it's higher priced sibling, the Everdrive N8 Pro, which adds support for screenshots and on-screen menus), allows you to play the games you own (or not) on actual original hardware.
