CREEPINGNET'S WORLD
EXCITEBIKE
Let's rip on back to the late 1980's, a time when it seems we had tons ofo awesome motorsports to watch: Monster Trucks (Bigfoot is STILL the king, and I don't care what any jimmy-come-lately-monster-jam-crap says!), Rally Racing, The indy 500, LeMans, Grand Prix, NASCAR before it turned into "SAMECAR", desert racing, drag racing, bracket racing....so many kinds of racing...and of course this one, BMX racing, on dirt bikes - not to be confused with BMX bikes, the pedal-bicycle races, or BMX Freestyle, something I tried at and darn near killed myself a few times trying to do from a book from the school library!

Excitebike is a side-view racing game where you race a dirt bike over obstacles against computerized components, and it was a part of the little-known "Programmable Series" of games from the Black/Silver label era (1985-1988) where you could basically edit and save your own tracks to the cartridge, and then dupe your crazy friend into trying to race over "90,000 Feet of Liftoff and no Runway" and laugh at them as they struggle. Or "90,000 feet of runway and one jump" and try to get the cycle rider to jump so high he comes up from the BOTTOM of the screen at his peak of height!

Excitebike is one of those simple games from early in the NES's past that everyone holds in high regard, and little wonder, it's one of those good, fun titles, regardless if by yourself, or with a friend.

So I first found out about Excitebike through a friend in my sister's collegate neighborhood - Jonathan. Jonathan had an NES and we'd usually play this at his house. The copy I have is the one I bought from him when he sold his NES to me in 97'.

I don't really have much to say, it's another one of those fun titles for wasting a short bit of time. I play it occasionally.
