HOYLE'S BOOK OF GAMES VOLUME 1
Hoyle's Book of Games Volume 1 was a card game for DOS released in 1988 by Sierra, and ran using a modified version of the Sierra Creative Interpreter (SCI) engine used more often for Graphical Adventures such as King's Quest IV+, Police Quest III+, and Leisure Suit Larry II & III. This particular title was the first in a series of DOS games that included Hoyle Classic Card Games and Hoyle Card Games for Windows 95 (both of which I also have).

This version of the game comes with multiple games including Crazy Eights, Old Maid, Gin Rummy, Hearts, Cribbage, and Klondike (Solitaire). You can play on your own, or against the computer or multiple people, and the computer player roster has a mix of Sierra game characters and employess including Sir Graham, Leisure Suit Larry, Rosella, Roger Wilco, Sonny Bonds, and so on. There's no speech here however. The game has support for CGA, EGA, VGA, and TGA with a maximum of 16-colors at 320x200 pixel resolution, with support for Adlib, Gameblaster, SoundBlaster, and PC Speaker, just to name a few. There is no speech, rather the characters using speech balloons.

This stemmed out a series of games (obviously) licenced by the well known playing card company, and it carried on until about the mid 1990'sl, when by then, msot people were playing solitaire through Microsoft Windows, and not needing a separate, third party app to ruin their productivity with.
