CREEPINGNET'S WORLD
GET LOST
It's Like the Backrooms, for DOS, but in Outer Space
Tom Bombadil's Software Emporium and House of Curiosities was the developer of this Maze Game released for DOS worldwide in 1996. It never was a major release for any other platform or anywhere else. What's also curious is looking for Tom Bombadil online finds that the character is of course, from Lord of the Rings, so the verdict is out as to who really created this. All we know is they were going under the alias of a Lord of the Rings character, lol.

In Get Lost, you are sent to/go willingly to/somehow end up in this strange multi-story building with portals to outer space, where you will walk on colored 3D generated walking paths to solve puzzles and find the exit. Each floor is navigated to with an elevator, with several levels per floor. The whole game uses atmospheric MIDI music and WAV sound effects. There's no enemies, no real challenge other than the time you make making it to the end of one of the levels in the game. Outside of that, not much is known about this game at all

In an age where PoolRooms and Backrooms games of similiar design are the norm, I'm surprised there has not been a revival or an update to this game of any type, or at least a lot of us DOS heads on YouTube playing it. I'm the only one of two who actually DID a Let's Play for this. Crazy huh.
Liminal Spaces of Outer Space - My Experiences
I've wanted to do a page on this one for a really, really, really long time. So I found out about GetLost! when I was looking for Windows Sound System comaptible games for my NEC Versa M/75 laptop. I found this and was immediatley hooked on it as a "just before bed" game. I know how all the doctors say "screentime before bed = bad" but I think this is an exception.

I'm whisked away to a strange, weird, distant world, not unlike the backrooms, except there are no Entities - just Fireworks, and some mysterious audience who gives me golf-claps when I complete a course. It runs really well on anything 386 or better, and it's a nice, tiny, immersive game to play when I want to put myself to sleep - even more accessible surprisingly than The Back Rooms Game in "Explore" mode, because at least I don't have random noises and humming lights to make it fearful. If anything, the whole thing kind of reminds me of this episode of Muppet Babies - in particular, the scene where Gonzo takes everyone to the "Weirdo Zone"....

Meanwhile, strange music plays over and over as I wander around these illuminated paths in what looks like outer space. Seriously, I'm expecting Jack Horkenheimer to show up out of nowhere as we cruise the mysterious 3D rendered 320x200p mode13h pixelated first-person landscapes of oddness that's also somewhat oddly relaxing to play.
