MONSTER TRUCK DESTRUCTION |
Monster Truck Destruction is a modern monster truck racing game, mostly centered around the original - Bigfoot. It was released sometime around 2017 or 2018 on mobile and Steam. TBH, I prefer the PC version to the phone version.
The game was released mostly as a "Bigfoot" game as the majority of the trucks are from their stable icnluding Bigfoot #1, #5, #9, and then some of the higher "teen" trucks I'm not as familiar with. It also includes some fictional competitors that looks to be sort of similar in vein to some Monster Jam trucks (which Bigfoot does not compete in), plus some old timers such as the Virginia Beach Beast Squarebody Chevy Tank and USA-1. Basically, you start with $150,000, and then race in events to win points and win the championship. The more points and money you make, the more you can upgrade your existing trucks, or buy new ones to race. The Main difference between the free mobile port and the Steam port is that the mobile port is full of DLC and paywalls, while the Steam port is WYSIWYG as far as the PC version goes. The game was met with a bit of consternation for several things. The first part being that you need an extremely powerful PC to run with details up on the PC version, while the phone version, while fun to play, nags you constantly for $0.99 to remove the ads, and charges you for trucks that are available in the Steam version. Basically, paywalls and DLC, one reaosn you find I don't play modern games that much.Champion of the Underdogs - My Experiences I downloaded this back in 2018 on a whim because I started getting back into Bigfoot, and happen to live not too far from a Summitt Racing store, so I was getting all back into Monster Trucks a little and wanted to see if Bigfoot had had anything **new** versus my old NES cartridge. So I got the free phone version, and bought the STEAM version for pretty cheap. Here's my takeaway. Purchasing on STEAM is infinitley better than the phone because you can buy Bigfoot #1 for $1.5M, or Bigfoot #5 for rougghly the same, rather than pay them to remove ads, and pay them to allow you to use the other trucks in the list, about $1.99 per truck. Am I buying in-game trucks or MP3 files? Christ. I am an oldschool gamer so I hate paywalls and DLC with a passion, it's one of the reason almost everything "gamiing" on this site is from 1995 or older. The tradeoff through is the sheer amount of horsepower your PC needs to run this with any of the details ticked up above minimum. Seriously, I need a Ryzen Threadripper with an NVIDIA 64GB T1000 video card to render a monster truck game from 2018? Sheesh. But it's more than fine enough with everything on minimum. I'm not looking for maximum immersion, just crushing cars and racing, so I really don't give a crap about "shadows" or "smoke trails", I just care about being able to play the game. And honestly, it's still on par with GTA San Andreas at that level, so I'm not complaining. VIDEO |
