CREEPINGNET'S WORLD
ZELIARD
Zeliard was a Origin Systems import of ゼリアード, Zeriādo in Japanese. Yet another port from the NEC PC-8801, and it was ported to a number of platforms, the IBM PC being one of them.

In Zeliard, an ancient demon known as a Jashiin, self-named the "Emporer of Chaos", wakes up from a 2000 year sleep to unleash unholy hell on the kingdom of Zeliard. He unleashes a 115 day long rain of sand to turn Zeliard into a Desert and turn's the king's Daughter, Felicia, to stone. You play as Duke Garland who sets out on a quest slay Jashiin, save Zeliard, and it's Princess.

The game plays much like a side scroller, somewhat reminiscent of Zelda II: Link's Awakening for the NES, or Castlevania II: Simon's Quest. Basically, you can buy armor, weapons, tools, and magic in the town, kind of like Ultima, but it's all from a side perspective. Hand-to-Hand combat continues the same way.
More Fun from Japan...on a PC that's not PC-88 or FM Towns - My Experiences
This was one of those games I saw while poking around for Tandy 1000 specific titles that used Tandy graphics and sound. For some weird reason, despite Sierra's involvement, it does not set the internal/external speakers right so all attempts to record this via computer have been a bit of a PITA and were a part and parcel of me hunting around for a way to get the Tandy to properly output audio through the RCA jacks at the same time as the internal speaker - because apparently the Tandy 1000 was a lot more advanced of a computer than I realized it actually was, it actually had a Multiplexer inside the computer that acted as a mixer and allowed you to mix sources to the various I/O methods for audio inside the Tandy - totally awesome.

My first serious play through was at the ripe young age of 40 for #SepTandy 2023, and the video will appear on my youtube channel in September sometime. Granted it was before I found the TDYSPKR utility so the audio is from the Tandy's own internal speaker instead and a bit muted as a result (I was recording it with a microphone). Needless to say, I'm quite impressed and it did things that Zelda II did, but better. so I quite like this game. Add to it I'm on a bit of a "Japan Kick" because of my recent interest in importing Famicom games. So it's a pretty darned cool addition to the library.

Anyway, I'll probably have more to add later on regarding this.
