SECURE YOUR SH!T
Internet Security is Very Important, ESPECIALLY ON A SERVER
Probably before you even ATTEMPT to build a server in your house, it's a wise idea to consider what you're using it for, and where you want the traffic to or from that service to go. It's probably the most important thing right up there with not telling strangers your address and not getting into a van with a strange person offering you candy. One of my biggest quests in building out my server, has been seeing just how locked down and "hardened" I can get this machine. I already had one major misstep (not putting subnets in UFW to only allow traffic within my own walls), but I'm not letting that happen again. So this page is sort of part tutorial, part blog, part data collection of what is involved in setting up security on a server in 2025.
